Noted
that India would not drag its feet on the plant Kudankulam nuclear
power for a longer period, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and
Russian President Vladimir Putin that the first reactor will be ready
before next month.Significantly, New Delhi also confirmed the intention
to conclude the negotiations on two more reactors. "I
am pleased to inform Mr. President that the Kudankulam 1 unit will be
ready to work, especially from next month," Singh said Putin at the
beginning of a meeting on the sidelines of BRICS on Tuesday night.Singh
's guarantee comes in the wake of the delay in the implementation first
reactor MW 1000 in Kudankulam, which faced stiff opposition from activists, anti-nuclear. To
address this, and Atomic Energy Regulatory Board ordered stringent
safety review in which some parts had to be replaced as precautionary
measure.Russia agreed upon, and these parts was the word changed. The PM
means that all testing is now complete and the first reactor could go
critical. According
to the plan, should be ready a second reactor within year.More
importantly, the sources said, Singh said India transfer of Putin will
go ahead and buy Kudankulam reactors 3 and 4. Although
for the record, Singh said "internal approvals" had to be secure for
units 3 and 4.Moscow had said earlier that New Delhi two additional
reactors will cost more in the light of India's new civil nuclear
liability law. This is the clearest indication that India decided to go ahead despite fears of increased cost.
